2 2 Pen Basics You MUST keep your pen tethered at all times. If you lose the stylus, the replacement cost is $30. Buttons should face YOU in garage. Make sure that the stylus is in the garage BEFORE closing the tablet.

3 Adjust Stylus Settings Pen Tablet Properties on DESKTOP

4 Activating the Input Panel Touch keyboard is an icon on the taskbar. The INKING icon allows you to write with stylus.

5 Inking Input Panel SPECIAL FEATURES ■Text Predictions ■ As you type, suggested words appear on top of the on-screen keyboard for faster text input ■Smart Corrections ■ TIP makes suggestions as you correct text without having to rewrite the entire text ■URL Entry ■ Separates URL segments and suggests alternatives such as “.net” based on usage frequency

6 Go to REVIEW Inking in Microsoft Word Click on “Start Inking” When you put your stylus near the page, the INK TOOLS option appears on menu.

7 What is a PDF? PDF = Portable Document Format This useful file format captures all the elements of a printed document as an ELECTRONIC IMAGE.

8 Open Google Chrome from your desktop. Go to the school website. Let’s Try Opening a PDF http://www.stmcougars.net

9 The easiest way to find anything in the school website is the SEARCH FEATURE. Search Feature - STM Website QUICKLINKS has more useful links.

10 Search for POLICIES Open the Policies Permission Form

11 Save Document from Browser Hover your mouse at the bottom-right corner of the document to get options.

12 Save & Open Documents Save the Policies form in the DOCUMENTS folder of your computer. Select the SAVE icon. Click downloaded document from taskbar.

13 PDF Annotator ●Add notes and annotations to any PDF document using keyboard and/or stylus ●Insert blank pages for more space. ●Combine documents. ●Copy, re-order or remove pages.

14 PRINT Policies to Annotator Hover your mouse at the bottom-right corner of the document to get options.

15 PRINT Policies to Annotator Select the CHANGE button. Select PDF Annotator. Select the PRINTER icon.

16 Update Annotator If this message appears, to update PDF Annotator, choose YES.

17 Using Inking Tools in Annotator Read through the Academic Integrity Code (page 8) highlighting key points. Sign the first line of the policy form. Save policies in your TECHNOLOGY folder in Drive.

18 Search for DEFAULT PROGRAMS. Choose ASSOCIATE A FILE TYPE...

19 Search for PDF. Double-click the PDF icon. From the pop-up menu, select PDF ANNOTATOR.

20 Windows Journal Search for Windows Journal Install the update
