3  It is old – This play was written in the 16 th century over 400 years ago. “If thou lovest me” (Lysander)  It often has to fit a rhyme scheme (10 beats per line) “Full of vexation come I, with complaint” (Egeus)  The word order is different (see above)  Shakespeare’s vocabulary was quite sophisticated “bewitch’d” “feigning love” “shrewd and knavish” © George Spencer School & Technology College 2010
