3 Nouns are words that name people, places, things, and animals.

4 Some nouns name a special person, place, thing, or animal. These nouns are called proper nouns, and they begin with a capital letter. SamTennessee New York City

5 People often have special titles that show respect for who they are or for the work they do. When a persons special title is written with their name, use a capital letter at the beginning of the special title. Lets look at some special titles. 6 The words for the days of the week, the months of the year, and holidays begin with a capital letter. Sunday February April Valentines Day Thursday Friday November Christmas

7 Sometimes nouns name one thing. Sometimes nouns name more than one thing. tree trees

8 This week we are working on being able to find the nouns in sentences. Lets practice this.

9 Honey bees live in a hive. Which word or words in the sentence are nouns?

10 Squirrels like to eat nuts. Which word or words in the sentence are nouns?

11 A woodpecker lives in a tree. Which word or words in the sentence are nouns?

12 Ants and bees work hard. Which word or words in the sentence are nouns?

13 Bugs can help flowers. Which word or words in the sentence are nouns?

14 Learning how to find nouns in a sentence will help you become a better writer and reader!
