2. What do you know about a sentence?
A sentence is a group of words that tell a whole idea.
A sentence starts with a capital letter.
A sentence ends with punctuation (like a period or question mark).
A sentence has a naming part and an action part.

3. Now we are going to learn about word order.
If words in a sentence are in the wrong order, you can’t understand the sentence.
A sentence has to have the words in order to make sense.

4. Sat on Mom’s lap the cat.
The words are out of order. The sentence doesn’t make sense.

5. Sat on Mom’s lap the cat.
Can you figure out how to fix this sentence by putting the words in the right order?
