4 St. Lucie County Fair Looking for students interested in working the Republican Party booth at the St. Lucie County Fair from February 27 th 2015 through March 8 th 2015. You DO earn volunteer hours for helping out and you get free admission tickets to the fair Limited spots available. See Rains if interested in signing up

5 No students are permitted on the other side of campus (IRSC campus) at any point during the day without permission (Before, during or after school-unless it’s when we kick you off campus) Only Dual Enrollment students are permitted on the IRSC campus If you are caught trespassing onto the IRSC campus you will automatically receive a Saturday detention This is your warning!!

6 Duffys and Superplay Night -Duffy’s: Wednesday, February 25, 2pm to 8pm -SuperPlay: 2pm to 7pm (includes 2 games of bowling with shoes and laser tag) -tickets are $10.00 now and $12.00 at the door -Tickets will be on sale at lunch

7 Mets Stadium Night: 3/7 &3/14 -Need 16 volunteers: 8 on cash registers, 3 on grills, 5 helpers. 8 on registers need to be 21 y.o. to sell alcohol. -Uniform: khaki shorts/pants, black closed toe shoes, and a maroon school shirt. -Volunteers park in the employee parking. If you are the Manager/Banker or Cook, be there at 9am and the cashiers and helpers need to report at 10am. -Concession stand 1. Gates open at 11:30am

17 IRSC Creative Writing Contest Contestants: Open to all SPCA students. Categories: Each contestant will submit a sample of his/her writing on any subject in only one of the following categories: (1) Short Story or (1) One-Act Play or (1-3) Poems. Format: All entries must be typed. All contestants must use a cover sheet listing: author’s name, grade level, teacher (Brasino—if you don’t have an English class this semester), school name, and school phone number. Entries not conforming will not be considered for competition. Contestants are encouraged to make copies of work submitted. Only Award winners will be contacted. Additional information: All entries must be turned in to your English teacher by February 23. If you do not have an English teacher this semester, you will submit your entry to Ms. Brasino by March 23. Late entries will not be accepted. Awards Ceremony: Thursday March 26, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at IRSC Main Campus, Brown Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (Y-102) Please see Ms. Brasino (104) if you have any additional questions.

18 Brasino’s 1 st Semester Freshmen See Ms. Brasino if you are interested in entering the IRSC Creative Writing Contest. You may revise and use the poems from your Poetry Anthology as an entry. You must see me prior to March 23.

19 FSA Writing Prep The FSA Writing will be given March 10-12. A Writing Prep will be offered on February 21, February 28, and March 7 from 9:30-12:30 in Room 104. We will cover the rubrics for both the argumentative and expository prompts, discuss strategies to approach each type of writing, and practice each type of prompt in a timed situation. Please see Ms. Brasino if you have any questions.

20 2015 History Fair Those students going to County for the 2015 history fair please attend a short meeting at the beginning of lunch on 2/13.

21 ATTENTION ALL STUDENTS Last week and again yesterday Mrs. Rains discovered one of our school buses completely trashed after lunch. This is considered vandalism, and dismissal may be a consequence. If the responsible party owns up to their actions, Mrs. Rains MAY have mercy. However if it the responsible party is identified by video or investigation, it is highly likely the student will be dismissed from the program.

24 In need of a committee of students for a project The project will take approximately one year, and will give you volunteer hours. This project requires one art student, one business student, one history student, and one tech student. The project is for the City and will not only earn you hours, but be awesome to place on your college apps, and will immortalize your name in PSL. See Rains
