5 No students are permitted on the other side of campus (IRSC campus) at any point during the day without permission (Before, during or after school-unless it’s when we kick you off campus) Only Dual Enrollment students are permitted on the IRSC campus If you are caught trespassing onto the IRSC campus you will automatically receive a Saturday detention This is your warning!!

9 Valentine’s Day SGA will be selling chocolate candy grams for Valentines day. Where: Office When: February 1 st - 11 th Cost: $2.00 Candy grams will be distributed during homeroom on February 13 th.

11 Any students that are interested in politics, law, or social sciences, with a GPA of 3.0 or higher and no excessive absences, are eligible to meet K. Carl Smith on February 26th at 7:00 PM. Mr. Smith is the Founder and President of Fredrick Douglass Republicans and will be speaking about Black America and the Republican Party. If you meet the eligibility requirements, please see Ms. Rains in the front office-she is only taking 15 students. Remember, this opportunity is on first come, first serve basis.

13 ATTENTION JUNIORS!!! It’s tax time! Don’t forget to remind your parents to click on the FAFSA tab when doing their taxes electronically. It will parse their financial information.

14 Boston to New York College Tour This trip is open to all grades and starts the second week of June Students will be visiting 11 different schools including but not limited to, Yale, Harvard, NYU, Columbia, and UCONN. Also, students will see a Broadway Show, the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and many historical sites in Boston, as well. An informational meeting for parents and students will be February 5 th at 6:00PM in room 109.

15 IRSC Creative Writing Contest Contestants: Open to all SPCA students. Categories: Each contestant will submit a sample of his/her writing on any subject in only one of the following categories: (1) Short Story or (1) One-Act Play or (1-3) Poems. Format: All entries must be typed. All contestants must use a cover sheet listing: author’s name, grade level, teacher (Brasino—if you don’t have an English class this semester), school name, and school phone number. Entries not conforming will not be considered for competition. Contestants are encouraged to make copies of work submitted. Only Award winners will be contacted. Additional information: All entries must be turned in to your English teacher by February 23. If you do not have an English teacher this semester, you will submit your entry to Ms. Brasino by March 23. Late entries will not be accepted. Awards Ceremony: Thursday March 26, 2015 at 6:30 p.m. at IRSC Main Campus, Brown Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship (Y-102) Please see Ms. Brasino (104) if you have any additional questions.

16 Brasino’s 1 st Semester Freshmen See Ms. Brasino if you are interested in entering the IRSC Creative Writing Contest. You may revise and use the poems from your Poetry Anthology as an entry. You must see me prior to March 23.
