2 Terms to know: Reactants- these are the substances needed for the reaction to take place Products- these are the substances produced during the reaction Equation- a written representation of a chemical reaction that separates the reactants and products

The process of photosynthesis in which plants change carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight to glucose.

7 Photosynthesis Description:
Carbon dioxide (CO2), water (H2O), and sunlight enter the leaves through holes called stomata. These substances are moved through the plants in tubes called xylem and phloem. Takes place in the chloroplasts using chlorophyll, the green pigment in plants. Occurs in plants and some algae.

We cannot make our own food (glucose), we must get our food from plants. Plants are the first step in the food chain. The oxygen released during photosynthesis is necessary for all living things.
