support.ebsco.com EBSCOadmin Branding Tutorial

Welcome to the EBSCOadmin Skinning and Branding tutorial, where you will learn how to customize EBSCOhost and EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) for your users by adding your institutions logo, customizing the colors of the interface, and adding text or images to the bottom of the page.

Once you have logged into the EBSCOadmin module, note that you are on the Customize Services tab. Select the user group for which you would like to set up name or logo branding, from the Current Group drop-down list.

Click on the Branding sub-tab. To display your library name or logo in the upper right corner of the screens, enter your web site address and library name in the Display Top Right Branding fields. Or, enter the URL to your library logo, which you can locate by right-clicking on the image. Click Submit to set your changes. Click a Modify link to customize your interface colors, or add an Ask-A-Librarian link.

Administrators can customize the colors for EBSCOhost and EDS profiles. This is especially useful if you would like to incorporate your institutions colors into the interface. Simply click a background or text & links color you would like to change. Use the color selection tool to find your desired color and click OK. Your new color will display on the interface in the preview box. Click Submit to save your changes when you are finished.

Adding an Ask-A-Librarian link provides your patrons with an easy way to contact your institution with questions. Set your Type of link and depending on the type of link you have chosen, add an e- mail address or web site URL in the fields provided. If you would like custom text to appear in the toolbar, add it in the Text to display for link field. The default text is Ask-A-Librarian. If desired, add a custom Message to Users and click Submit when you are finished.

You can access additional branding options by selecting the Enhanced radio button. Enhanced branding allows you to replace the EBSCOhost logo on the interface with your institutions logo.

To add your logo to the Basic Search screen, select a library logo placement option and enter the URL to your logo. If you would like, add the URL to your librarys website which users will access by clicking on your logo. You can also display your logo on all other screens by repeating these steps under Top Branding. Note the maximum logo sizes provided.

EBSCO Discovery Service offers additional branding options to administrators, including customizing the top toolbar, searching label, and text for the product name. For more information on these additional options, be sure to see our EBSCOadmin Customization Guide for EBSCO Discovery Service on the EBSCO Support Site.

To add branding to the bottom of the EBSCOhost screens, click on the Modify link for Bottom Branding.

Click on the Add New Branding link to create a new branding version.

Name the branding version you are about to create. Indicate whether you plan to use plain text or HTML coding. In the Enter Custom Text field, type the text you want shown at the bottom of selected EBSCOhost screens, including HTML tags if you selected the HTML radio button above.

Scroll down to the Show on the following Screens section and check the screens on which you would like the new branding version to appear. Decide whether you would like this branding style applied to all of the profiles in the group, using the Yes/No radio buttons. Click Submit to save your changes.

To apply your new branding option to a specific profile, select the profile from the Choose Profile drop-down list. Click on the Branding sub-tab, choose the branding version from the drop-down list and click Submit to save your changes. Note that you can combine this branding version with the other branding options available on the Branding sub-tab.

Click the Help link to view the online User Guide, or visit http://support.ebsco.com to search our Knowledge Base of FAQs, view additional tutorials, download support materials such as Help Sheets, or contact Technical Support. This concludes the EBSCOadmin Branding tutorial.
