1 Friday, September 11, 2015 B-Day Objective: YWBAT build a solar cooker that will get hot enough to cook a s’more. Drill: Why is the process of retention important in your solar cooker? Homework Play Outside!

2 Answer Retention is the final principle in solar cooking. If a solar cooker is not well insulated and if it does not have a cover, or lid, then all of the concentrated heat (energy) and all of the absorbed heat would quickly dissipate into the air and be lost to the surrounding environment.

3 Did you know…? The world’s largest solar cooker in India can feed up to 20,000 people per day.

4 Reminders about Solar Cookers  All supplies must be kept inside your box with your name and period on it.  All supplies must be recycled or reused.  You must supply tape or glue to attach your project.  You have two days to build your solar cooker.
