1 iResults TBI Crime Laboratory

2 What is iResults? iResults is an Internet-based reporting system which allows user agencies to access copies of final reports and check the status of their requests. All without calling the lab. Agencies can get the information and updates when they need them. Status updates for cases will occur each night at 8:00pm Central time.

12 If the printer selected is correct, click the OK button and the report will print

13 Some agencies may choose to allow the Agency Administrator to access and print ALL reports for the Agency and distribute them as needed.

14 Agency Representatives
Agencies Administrators have the capability to assign individual user names and passwords to their agency representatives. These may include: officers and detectives at a law enforcement agency, or attorneys at the District Attorney’s Office.

15 If you want someone to have access to view reports in iResults, they must first be set up in LIMS-plus as an Agency Representative, then their user account can be activated in iResults.

16 Agency Representative Access in iResults
The agency administrator will setup initial login names and passwords for agency representatives. THIS FUNCTION IS NOT PERFORMED BY THE TBI CRIME LAB.

17 Can I add or limit access to my Results?
To answer this question, you must first understand how cases are handled in the LIMS-plus system. Multiple agencies can be assigned to a single case. A case may have multiple REQUESTS based on the types of examination required.

18 Multiple Agencies

19 Multiple Requests

20 Requests are assigned to an Agency and Agency Representative

21 Access to Results Unless results have been restricted in the LIMS-plus database, ALL representatives for ALL agencies listed for the case have access in iResults. Restriction requests must be made to the local Crime Laboratory Regional Supervisor for approval before the case will be restricted.

22 To Limit Results Access
The default setting is “Unrestricted”

23 There are two restriction options
If you specify “Requesting Agency Only”, all representatives for the agency assigned to the REQUEST will have access to the report. If you specify “Requesting Rep Only”, only the agency representative designated on the REQUEST will have access to the report. THESE RESTRICTIONS ARE APPLIED TO ALL REQUESTS FOR THAT CASE. You can not “pick and choose” access.

24 Agency Communication In cases where multiple agencies are listed for the case, each agency MUST decide whether or not to restrict access to request results. If ONE Agency requests that results be restricted, this restriction will apply to all requests for the case. Agencies should communicate with each other and discuss these restrictions before making their requests. REMEMBER: The Unrestricted setting allows access to ALL Agencies listed on the case and to ALL Representatives for those agencies.

25 Sharing of Reports If an Agency restricts access to their own agency, it will be the AGENCY’S responsibility to provide copies of reports to other entities involved in the case.

26 FYI Reports issued after January 1, 2007 should be available on the i-Results server. Reports issued prior to January 1, 2007 may not available in i-Results, and can not be added to the i-Results database.

27 FYI Our intention is to keep copies of reports on the i-Results server for a minimum of three (3) years. This policy may change depending on server memory, quantity of reports, etc.

28 IMPORTANT NOTE On January 1, 2010 TBI Crime Laboratories will no longer mail out final reports
