Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons)Email office@cheselbourne.dorset.sch.uk Info from Newsletter sent on 9th June 2011 Arts Week The children have had the most exciting, stimulating, amazing and messy week with incredible support from our villagers and from parents. Tiggy from the village has worked with them to make stencils which are being sprayed on the walls near the conservatory at the back. Lots more to do but they look great. Everyone has worked with Beth’s dad, Mr Gammaidoni, making clay bugs and animals. They look brilliant. They haven’t dried yet so he is coming back next week to get them painted.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons)Email office@cheselbourne.dorset.sch.uk Info from Newsletter sent on 9th June 2011 Mrs Warren came in today and every child has had the opportunity to learn about cake and biscuit decorating – they did look too scrummy to take home – I think they all wanted to eat them then and there! Aleisha and Isobella’s mum, Becky, came in today and talked to the children about ‘feelings’ in paintings and all the children had the opportunity to ‘feel’ acrylics – mixing, using combs and sponges and experimenting before producing their own box canvas. Every child has made a dream catcher, most made a bookmark with spongy felt, some made a ‘worry doll’, everyone went on a walk in the woods and painted their findings with Mrs Featherstone, lots used bricks to make a creative structure in the genre of Carl Andre and now the children are making boxes with moving parts. You’ll love it when the children bring all of their art work home.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons)Email office@cheselbourne.dorset.sch.uk Info from Newsletter sent on 9th June 2011 The Book People Books have been left in the school’s entrance hall. The choice is very varied and the ’value for money’ outstanding. Birds in your garden, walks in Somerset, CDs and books, dinosaurs and collections of stories – just to name a few. Some are a fifth of the cost, all at least under half price. Do call in and have a look. I did share with Jason and Beverly just how much their generosity to St Joseph’s School in Cape Coast, Ghana was appreciated by both the staff and the children. Michelle is due home on 21 June and we are all looking forward to seeing the photographs.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons)Email office@cheselbourne.dorset.sch.uk Info from Newsletter sent on 9th June 2011 Mrs Chaffey As you are aware, Mrs. Chaffey has been on secondment at St Mary’s RC School in Dorchester, as deputy headteacher, for the past two years. Well – she was appointed headteacher of Thorners Primary School in Litton Cheney on the way to Bridport starting in September. As you can imagine, we are delighted that she has got a headship and we all know that she will be a super headteacher.

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons)Email office@cheselbourne.dorset.sch.uk Info from Newsletter sent on 9th June 2011 Mrs Freeman / Adie I think you all know that Vicki’s baby boy was born on Monday 23 May. Coming just a little early, he weighed in at 6lb 1oz – that’s 2.7kg – about two bags of sugar. Vicki and baby Joe are doing well. By the way this is not a photo of Joe! It’s a Google baby!

Headteacher – Mrs Ann Herridge B.Ed (Hons)Email office@cheselbourne.dorset.sch.uk Info from Newsletter sent on 9th June 2011 DASP Music Concert – The Big One!!! I have spoken with the head of music at Thomas Hardye School and we have been allocated a slot at this prestigious concert. We are taking a group of children to do some Morris dancing – with sticks!! The concert is on the night of Saturday 2 July with a rehearsal at 12.00 on that Saturday. I will be organizing a group of dancers to work in sets where the children will learn to take a particular place in the set. If there are any parents of children in Class 2 that feel they do not want their child to be part of this please let me know by next week when we will begin learning the dances and the places. If your child is chosen it is essential that they attend both the rehearsal at 12.00 and the concert in the evening. Not every child can go as there will be too many but I will choose as many as possible. It really is a fantastic opportunity to be part of this brilliant musical evening.
