1 GROUP 6

2 THE FOURTEENTH TUESDAY

3 Mitch Albom References

4 We Say Good-bye

5 Morrie canceled all appointments except Mitch’s
Mitch brought a lot of things to visit Morrie as usual even though Morrie couldn’t eat them. Mitch didn’t know how to say goodbye Morrie gave him the last lecture to farewell and live in Mitch’s heart forever

6 Quotes of readings Sometimes, when you're losing someone, you hang on to whatever tradition you can. -p182 "When you're in bed, you're dead“-p183 I don't know how to say good-bye. -p185

7 Mitch Heavy—weather more heavy—Morrie wife’s saying and newspaper
not to know what to do — Morrie lay on the bed emotional—Morrie taught him anticipation—replied with Morrie

8 Morrie Weak—the serious illness A little happiness—knew Mitch coming
Wisdom— told Morrie how to say goodbye Peaceful—taught Morrie all of things

9 Learn to cry 1. Why Morrie want Mitch to cry? 2. The meaning of “cry”
3. The change of the author's attitude

10 Page 186 paragraph3 line 1 I blinked back the tears, and he smacked his lips together and raised his eyebrows at the sight of my face. I like to think it was a fleeting moment of satisfaction for my dear old professor: he had finally made me cry

11 Page 190 paragraph 4 line 1 Not long after Morrie's death, I reached my brother in Spain. We had a long talk. I told him I respected his distance, and that all I wanted was to be in touch-in the present, not just the past-to hold him in my life as much as he could let me. "You're my only brother," I said. "I don't want to lose you. I love you."I had never said such a thing to him before.

12 Page 190 paragraph 4 line 1 A few days later, I received a message on my fax machine. It was typed in the sprawling, poorly punctuated, all-cap-letters fashion that always characterized my brother's words. "HI I'VE JOINED THE NINETIES!" it began. He wrote a few little stories, what he'd been doing that week, a couple of jokes. At the end, he signed off this way:I HAVE HEARTBURN AND DIAHREA AT THE MOMENT-LIFE'S A BITCH. CHAT LATER? [signed] SORE TUSH. I laughed until there were tears in my eyes.

13 Conclusion There is no such thing as “too late” in life. He was changing until the day he said good-bye. It hurts when you can't be with someone you love. But you need to be at peace with his desires. Death ends a life, not a relationship The teaching goes on……

14 Reflection What is the most important in our life?
Have you ever really had a teacher? One who saw you as a raw but precious things, a jewel that, with wisdom, could be polished to a proud shine?
