2. Starcraft Starcraft is a military science fiction real-time strategy video game developed by Blizzard Entertainment. The game was released for Microsoft Windows on 31 st March 1998. with more than 11 million copies sold worldwide as of February 2009, it became one of the best-selling games for the personal computer. Later on a Mac OS ( Operating System ) version was released in March 1999, and a Nintendo 64 adaptation co-developed with Mass Media Interactive Entertainment was released on the 13 th of June 2000.

3. Setting of Starcraft Starcraft is set in the 26 th century, the universe is created by Chris Metzen and James Phinney for Blizzard Entertainment. According to the story presented in the game’s manual, the overpopulation of earth in the early 21 st century has caused the international government to exile undesirable elements of the human race to colonize the far reaches of the galaxy. Starcraft Revolves around three species fighting for dominance in a distant part of the Milky Way galaxy. The three races are made up of the Terrans, Zerg, and Protoss. Terrans »The Terrans are humans that are exiled undesirable elements of the human race, such as criminals, the cybernetically enhanced and genetic mutants. » In the distant Koprulu Sector of the galaxy the exiles from several governments but quickly fall into conflict with each other. » One government, the Confederacy of Man, eventually emerges as the strongest faction, but its oppressive nature and brutal methods of suppressing dissidents stir up major rebel opposition in the form of a terrorist group called the Sons of Korhal. » The Terrans have access to a range of more ballistic military technologies and machinery, such as tanks and nuclear weapons.

5. Protoss ⁂ An enigmatic race that has access to powerful men and machinery and advanced technologies such as energy shields and localized wrap capabilities, powered by their psionic traits. However, their forces are slow and expensive to produce. ⁂ An alien race possessing advanced technology and psionic power. ⁂ Made first contact with humanity by destroying a Confederate colony world with out any prior warning.

6. Zerg ぶ An insectoid beings that posses entirely organic units and structures. ぶ The structures and units are produced quickly and at a far cheaper cost to resources. ぶ The Zerg are weaker than the rest of the races and relies on sheer numbers and speed to overwhelm its enemies

Main Characters Terran Characters: Protoss Characters: ★ Arcturus Mengsk – Leader of Sons of Korhal. ★ Sarah Kerrigan – A psychic agent and Arcturus Mengsk’s second-in-command. ★ Jim Raynor – A morally conscious law enforcement officer from Mar Sara.  Tassadar – Main leader.  Fenix – Second-in- Command.  Zeratul – A member of the Dark templar, a group considered heretical by the Protoss government.

8. Some Facts of Starcraft to Starcraft 2  After 10 years of wait for the Sequel of Starcraft, Starcraft 2 was released recently.  Before this was released an expansion pack for Starcraft was released called brood wars, which continued the endless battle of the three races. Starcraft 2 has a huge difference with graphics and game play. Starcraft has its ups and down but for a 1998 game it was ahead of its class.

9. How did Starcraft made cash?  Starcraft had made the company Blizzard Entertainment pretty wealthy with the game and its merchandise.  Even though Starcraft is a pretty old game from the late 90’s a lot of its fans still and will always consider it as the “Holy Grail of all RTS ( Real Time Strategy) games.  Starcraft still sells to this very day.  When it went out in the late 90’s their sales grew even more in the later years.

10. I chose to Starcraft for the in depth project I have played Starcraft for years ever since I was a kid. Right up to this very day and I really have not look more in depth in this game before. I became more interested as I was writing this project and I have learned more about the game. By doing research in this particular game I have really learned a lot about the game the makers and more about the races.
