2 Assumptions Students with Mental Health issues are not directly identifiable through categories while in school. Classification used for this data summary primarily includes the category of Emotional Disturbance (ED). Oregon data will combine students who were recorded as ED either as a primary or a secondary disability. Oregon does not use the Multiple Disability category.

5 Frequency of Occurence The number of students reported with ED has been increasing slightly. More than one third of youth with ED have additional disabilities. More youth with ED participate in Free & Reduced Lunch than any other Disability group (68%). Data source: The Oregon Mult-Year Database (MYDB) was used to generate 2001-02 through 2008-09 data charts, Ages 5-21

6 ASSESSMENT Almost 30% of ED students met or exceeded the standards on their most recent statewide math assessment. Almost 40% of ED students met or exceeded the standards on their most recent statewide reading assessment. Data source: The Oregon MYDB was used to generate 2006-07 through 2009-10 data grades 4-12

7 Discipline — Stability Out of school suspension was the most recent disciplinary action for more than 25% of ED students. ED students are the most likely to move from district to district. Almost 15% of the ED students were not in the same district the previous school year Data source: The Oregon MYDB was used to generate 2006-07 through 2009-10 data grades 4-12

8 Multiple Years in 12 th Grade Students reported on this graph are all in 12 th grade. Some are in their 5 th, 6 th or 7 th year in High School.
