7 Social Security Programs Many learning support students are eligible for Social Security Benefits. There are social security programs that are designed to assist students while they are making the transition from high school to post- secondary school or employment and trying to get on their feet. Many times, students may not be accepted for social security benefits and may have to apply up to 4 times to get benefits. Even though students may not want to be on social security or rely on social security for support, it can be a helpful alternative through the transition years to assist with gas and transportation, food, health care, school books, etc. The New Castle Social Security number is 1-866-331-5283
