4 Staggered entry September Full day

5 Supervision and the breakfast program begin at 7:55 AM. Children should not be dropped off before this time. Classes begin at 8:15 AM and dismissal is at 1:35 PM. School Hours

8 A day in the life of a kindergarten student! Literacy – 90 minute block Numeracy – math You and Your World (health, science and social studies) Physical education, art and music

10 During the first week of school you will receive: School calendar Bell schedule Contact Information Agenda Medical Information Media Release Field Trip

11 Routines & Procedures Kindergarten and Lunchtime First month of school Hot lunch - Cafeteria (note with Ziplock) Speaking with the teacher Proper footwear/clothing (change - label) School fees Toileting (wipes) Toys… QE ROCKs

13 Building Security Doors are locked throughout the day. Sign in and sign out Visitor’s badge

14 Running, jumping and climbing Holding scissors and pencils Dressing themselves -Encourage your child to button shirts and pants, tie shoes, and zipper jackets. Encouraging your child to be active Getting Ready for School!

15 Encourage your child to draw, colour, cut and glue things and display work on the refrigerator Encourage stringing things like beads and macaroni to make necklaces to wear. Getting Ready for School!

29 Talk, Read, Learn: Learn how to use books to enrich your child's language and communication skills. This interactive session demonstrates how to go beyond reading a story with related activities for children over a 4 week program. Each session involves songs, crafts and activities around various books. Skill building includes phonological awareness, vocabulary, narrative skills and print awareness. June 3-24

30 Parent-Child Mother Goose: Over the course of 4 weeks, parents and children learn rhymes, songs, finger plays and oral stories to help promote language and pre- literacy skills. Additional benefits include gaining confidence, meeting new friends and having fun. Skill building can include: vocabulary building, sound awareness, grammar, following directions, turn taking, and narrative skills. June 9-30
