7 CASE STUDY Caroline Kerr and Tuan Vu were two Program Coordinators of an International Seminar run by WUSC in Phu Quoc Island in the summer of 2010. There were 20 students (10 Cdn and 10 Vse) joining the seminar. They were supposed to stay at a hotel together and work on a research together. The Vietnamese coordinator was accused of inappropriate behaviour with one of the female students participating in the seminar. The accusations were based upon a rumour, but before actually confirming the rumour with Tuan and the student, Caroline brought the accusations to the attention of the local partners in Phu Quoc. The local partners were upset that Caroline would accuse Tuan and the female student of such behaviour, and the situation began to lose control. Days later, Caroline, unsure of how to fix things, decided to end her contract early and return to Canada.
