NIST/ECRC Establish methods used in the technical development of STEP WG5: STEP Development Methods Plan & Arch Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Requirements One Project EXPRESS

NIST/ECRC Four Projects Conformance Testing Methodology and Framework: General Concepts Requirements on Testing Laboratories and Clients Structure and Development of Abstract Test Suites Abstract Test Methods Establish procedures and criteria for testing STEP processors for conformance to standard WG6: Conformance Testing Procedures Plan & Arch Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Requirements

NIST/ECRC Three Projects Develop specification for exchange of data via a physical file Develop Data Access Interface Specification Provide information resources on STEP implementations, implementors and tools Develop specifications necessary for the implementation of ISO 10303 WG7: Implementation Specifications Plan & Arch. Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Requirements

NIST/ECRC Three Projects Focus on the Data that: Reside within a manufacturing enterprise’s resource database Is exchanged between manufacturing and surrounding management activities Is used to control and monitors the flow of material within a manufacturing enterprise Identify and specify data used within manufacturing enterprises exclusive of product definition data WG8: Industrial Manufacturing Management Data Plan & Arch. Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Requirements

NIST/ECRC Joint effort between ISO TC184/SC4 and IEC/TC3 Development of resources and Application Protocols for electrical/electronic products. Coordination of these activities with existing standards such as EDIF, IGES, SET, VHDL, IPC and VNS JWG9: Electrical / Electronic Applications Plan & Arch. Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Requirements

NIST/ECRC Responsibilities Define and maintain a consistent set of architectures for the standards of SC4. Develop SC4 Standard Architecture and Framework for methods. Provide technical leadership across the standards under SC4. Identify and implement necessary changes and enhancements to the architecture. Establish technical direction for SC4 and resolve related technical issues. WG10: Architecture Plan & Arch Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Methods, Integration, Quality, and Tools Requirements

NIST/ECRC NIST’s Role in STEP Development vNIST is the SC4 Secretariat vSponsors US industry SC4 Chair vProvides the STEP On-line Information Services (SOLIS), a service which makes all STEP and SC4 information/documentation available electronically vProvides administrative support to US TAG, the formal US representative to SC4 vSupports and coordinates industrial input and activity across multiple industrial sectors

NIST/ECRC IGES/PDES Organization (IPO) vUS focal point for Product Data Standards and Technologies; ANSI-accredited consensus standard organization  Membership domestic, participation international. vThe US technical development body to STEP vEstablished in 1979, conducts quarterly meetings and maintains IGES vProjects are organized similarly to SC4 vPrincipal management provided by NIST; administrative support provided by USPRO

NIST/ECRC US Technical Advisory Group vUS Body responsible (to ANSI) for establishing US Position on SC4 Ballots vUS TAG Chair serves as US Head of Delegation to SC4 Meetings vVoluntary body; small, official membership (~20 organizations); has membership requirements vSolicits & organizes US ballot comments; ballot coordinator responsible for organizing comments
