2 Introduction  I selected the University of Georgia for my project because I earned my M.Ed degree there in 1990.  The Georgia Bulldogs are my favorite team in all college sports.  Founded on January 27, 1785, by the Georgia General Assembly; UGA is the first state-chartered university in America.

3 Location  The University of Georgia is located in Athens, Georgia.

4 Campus Environment  The University of Georgia is a small city/ suburban campus environment.  UGA is located 61 miles northeast of Atlanta, the state capital.

7 Fees and Finances  For Georgia residents, tuition and fees for 2008- 2009 is $6,030. For non-residents of Georgia, tuition and fees total $22,342. The HOPE Scholarship covers tuition and fees for Georgia residents graduating from a Georgia high school with a "B" average.  For students living on campus for the full academic year, housing costs $4,238 and a meal plan is $3,290. We estimate books for the year at $900 and personal expenses at $2,300. 9 Academic Courses  Hundreds of academic courses are available at UGA.  Most courses are geared to their specialized major or area of study.  In general, these areas include the humanities (language arts), mathematics, social sciences (social studies), and physical sciences.

10 Academic Policies and Procedures  The Academic Affairs Policy Manual covers the University’s academic policies and procedures. Relevant Board of Regents policy is included where appropriate. The authoritative source concerning Board-approved policies and procedures governing academic matters is the Board of Regents Policy Manual. 12 Why Am I Interested in UGA?  I attend the University of Georgia and earned my M.Ed degree in 1990.  Both of my sons have attended UGA.  I follow Georgia Bulldogs sports, especially football.

13 My Academic Areas of Interest  Education, more specifically Middle Grades Education, was my major and area of study for which I completed my masters degree.  Journalism, English, History, and Political Science are other academic areas which interest me.

15 Conclusion  From researching about the University of Georgia, I am reminded of the vast and numerous variety of choices that a student has to study.  The university or college experience is unlike any other.  Especially at major universities, a student has the opportunity to meet a large diverse culture of people from countries all over the world.
