In a figure of speech, words are used in an imaginative way to communicate meaning beyond their strict definition. Figures of speech include:
Similes: use the word like or as to compare two unlike things. (The frozen lake is like glass.)
Metaphors: make comparisons without the words like or as. (All the world is a stage.)
