For Christians, the Paschal Mystery (the Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus Christ) mirrors the Exodus Story (the Israelites’ journey from slavery in Egypt to freedom in the Promised Land) for the Jewish people
The Paschal Mystery is the central event for Christians
The Paschal Mystery is the lens through which the entire New Testament must be viewed

For Christians, the Paschal Mystery (the Passion, Death, Resurrection, and Ascension of Jesus Christ) mirrors the Exodus Story (the Israelites’ journey from slavery in Egypt to freedom in the Promised Land) for the Jewish people
It is something that people can continue to experience and “re-member” in the modern world
Despite the low points of slavery and death, this is not the end of the story
Rather, the story ends with the freedom of the Hebrew people and the Resurrection of Jesus, events that provide the people with Hope (just like the Prophets)

Through the Sacrament of Baptism
This is the first time Christians learn about and experience they Paschal Mystery – How?
The Ritual of Baptism includes “dunking” the person into a body of water and “rising” out of it
The “dunking” into water is a form of death to an old self and way of life; the waters cleanse the person of their sinfulness
The “rising” out of the water is a way of resurrecting into a new self and life in Christ

How do Christians continue to be united with Christ and the Paschal Mystery today?
Through the Sacrament of the Eucharist
This is how Christians are nourished on their faith journey which will inevitably force them to have a personal experience of the Paschal Mystery
The Ritual of the Eucharist includes the invocation of “chosen, blessed, broken, and given” – What does this refer to?
It refers to the divine person of Jesus, the Eucharist, and the person receiving the Eucharist

Christians are called to “re-member” and live out the Paschal Mystery in everyday life and share the Paschal Mystery with everyone they meet
Through their initiation into the Christian faith through the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and the Eucharist, each Christian is called to be a “little Christ” to the people of the world; now, they become the Sacrament of Jesus to the people of the world
