7 pregnancy care centres These are information and counselling facilities for women, men & their families facing an unplanned pregnancy. All options are explored. Information is given on abortion, adoption, single parenting and foetal development

8 -All the services are free -Confidential -Pregnancy tests -Pre & post abortion counselling -Adoption counselling -Birth preparation -Some Centres offer Pre & Post HIV test counselling and support -Counsellor training courses -Baby equipment and clothing

10 Infant Care Care Homes Individual families caring for new born babies until baby is placed with new adoptive parents - max 60 days

11 Baby Shelters Temporary h ome for babies waiting for adoption babies who have been abandoned or are HIV+

12 Hospital programmes * Baby Touch * Assisting hospital neonatal units with baby feeding and care

13 Adoptions -ACFL affiliated centres work together with accredited social workers who screen & counsel prospective adoptive parents. -Together support is offered to prepare the birth mom, adoptive parents and baby for adoption plan.

15 Mother Homes  These are homes for pregnant women who have either chosen to release their baby for adoption or who will parent their baby and need of emergency accommodation.  Residents are involved in household duties including cooking, gardening, washing and other household chores. A homely atmosphere is maintained.

16 Skills Training An important part of the role of Mother Homes is teaching useful skills to the moms, for example; Sewing Arts & Crafts Fabric Painting Card Making Candle Making Cooking & Baking Hygiene Business skills Basic Computer Skills Entrepreneurial To supplement income within the Home as well as giving the women skills for their future.

19 School / Education Programmes Interactive programmes designed to stimulate participation from groups of pupils. We teach abstinence Objectives Encouraging teenagers to:  Recognize the physical, emotional and moral risks of casual sexual behavior  Develop self esteem, self respect and self understanding  Prevent unplanned pregnancy and the spread of HIV and STI’s

21 Schools Programme Some programmes are currently in use by our ACfL Affiliates Youth for Christ – Voices and Choices education programme, Active peer group education. Focus on the Family – No Apologies True Love Waits Scripture Union Izandlazethemba – “hands of hope”; home based HIV care

24 Funding Each affiliated centre / organisation is responsible for its own funding The work of Africa Cares for Life is funded by organisations’ affiliation fees & donations

27 AFFILIATION CRITERIA Agree with ACfL Statement of Faith Uphold the sanctity of life Embrace the pro-woman/pro-family strategy Not to discriminate on the basis of race, creed, religion, marital status, sex or age Not to provide or refer to abortion providing facilities Not to receive profitable payment for adoption Maintain ongoing contact with ACfL Pay affiliation fees Provide monthly statistics Use ACFL recommended or approved training material and courses The National Management Team has the right to withhold affiliation
