3 Optical Art “Op Art” In the 1960's, the term "Op Art" was coined to describe the work of a growing group of abstract painters. This movement was led by Victor Vasarely and Bridget Riley.

7 Supernovae – 1959-61 Vasarely ’ s paintings are some of the most powerful examples of Op Art. He used a wide range of mathematical methods using grids. Artist: Victor Vasarely

8 Vega-Nor – 1969 Optical illusion of a sphere on a flat surface. The illusion is successful due to the ways in which Vasarely used color, shape, and line. Artist: Victor Vasarely

9 Vonal Ksz Artist: Victor Vasarely Many of Vasarely ’ s work leads the eye into illusory tunnels.

10 Cheyt M Artist: Victor Vasarely The different hues and arrangements of his brightly colored geometric shapes create an impression of movement.
