3 Seminar on “Global Overview of Biotech/GM Crops 2009: Current Status, Impact and Future Prospect” (Ministry of Agriculture, 2 March 2010)  105 participants included: scientists, academicians, students, policy makers, farmers, journalists, agro- businessmen, and also general public.  Total 14 articles in 9 printed media, 3 online media and 2 special interview by TVRI and Metro TV. Impression: 6,5 million

4 Dr. Iskandar Andi Nuhung (Expert Staff of Ministry of Agriculture, Division of Agricultural Technology) stated that, biotech can potentially increase productivity and efficiency in agriculture, and has been shown to produce results in China, India, Philippines, so Indonesian government is paying close attention to incorporate biotech to improve agriculture.

Official in East Java Theme: “Sustainable Modern Agriculture” Vice Governor of East Java, Saifullah Yusuf fully supported the implementation of biotechnology in particular for East Java East Java is ready to be a place for development of biotechnology products in Indonesia since the products can be a possible alternative to help solve many challenges of conventional breeding techniques.

23 Some 200 participants composed of agricultural officials, universities, agricultural stakeholders, and media participated in this event The Governor of Gorontalo, Dr. Ir. H. Gusnar Ismail, expressed his support for the implementation of biotechnology since it can provide possible alternatives to help solve many challenges of conventional breeding techniques Biotech Workshop for Government Officials in Gorontalo (27 February 2011)

25 Seminar on “Global Status of Commercialized Biotech/GM Crops: 2010” There were 126 people participated in this event such as scientists, academicians, students, policy makers, farmers, journalists, agro-businessmen, and also general public. Total of 17 articles in 8 printed media, 6 online media and 4 special interview by TVRI, Indosiar, MNC TV and ANTV. Impression: 18 million

26 Vice Minister of Agriculture Ir. Bayu Krisnamurthi delivered opening remarks He said that Indonesia needs a new technological breakthrough after the Green Revolution. He believes that biotechnology seems to be a promising one since it has been well adopted in Argentina, where many of its food is developed through genetic modification (GM) technology Furthermore he added the Indonesian government fully supported plant biotechnology or genetic engineering (Genetically Modified Organisms) to be developed in Indonesia to meet domestic food needs, since approximately 80-90 percent of Indonesian soybean are GMOs.

27 Some 100 participants composed of scientists, members of the food industry and students were updated on ‘Biotechnology in the Food Industry. Seminar on Update on Biotechnology in Food Industry Dr. Bambang Purwantara discussed the opportunities and challenges of biotechnology application for Indonesia's food security.
