3. In order to understand Newton’s laws you need to understand what force, motion, and energy are. Force is a push or a pull in a particular direction.

6. Motion Motion: is an object’s change in position over time. Forces are what cause a change in motion.

7. Newton’s First Law Newton’s First Law states: – Objects at rest tend to stay at rest and objects in motion tend to stay in motion unless acted upon by an outside force. With no outside force, an object at rest will always be at rest. With no outside force, an object in motion will always be in motion.

8. This law is sometimes called Newton’s Law of Inertia. Inertia is the resistance of any object to a change in its state of motion, including changes to its speed and direction – This means that an object at rest wants to stay at rest and an object in motion wants to stay in motion without change. The only reason this would change is if it is acted upon by an outside force.
