www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 10 WOMEN DON’T GET TRUE MATERNITY LEAVE According to the Pakistan Labour Laws, women have a right to maternity leave but in most cases it is considered a favour by the employers rather than a right of the mother. KEY CHALLANGES

www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 11 WOMEN DON’T HAVE MANY DAY CARE FACILITIES Mothers with small children have no concessions or any spaces provided as baby crèches as a result women with young children are forced to abandon their work. There are also no provisions in the law for post-delivery conditions. KEY CHALLANGES

www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 12 BOSSES FEAR SINGLE WOMEN WILL MARRY & LEAVE No protection in law regarding age discrimination. Women of reproductive ages are discriminated against by employers who fear that they will not be able to deliver as much as required. KEY CHALLANGES

www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 13 WOMEN HAVE LOW PRESENCE IN UNIONS Women workers have minimal or no participation in the trade unions due to their perceived marginalized role in the employment sector. KEY CHALLANGES

KEY STRENGTHS 14 EMPOWERING WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE INCREASES PRODUCTIVITY – 10% MORE CROP YIELDS WOMEN HELP FAMILIES & COMMUNITY EDUCATING GIRLS GROWS THE ECONOMY WOMEN ARE FAIRER LEADERS WOMEN PAY BACK MONEY OWED www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com

Women make up 43% of the agriculture labor force globally and are less likely to own land, when women do own the same amount of land as men, there is over a 10% increase in crop yields. Women are the principle producers of foods eaten by over 90% of the poor around the world. www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 15 KEY STRENGTHS EMPOWERING WOMEN IN AGRICULTURE INCREASES PRODUCTIVITY – 10% MORE CROP YIELDS

www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 16 WOMEN HELP FAMILIES & COMMUNITY Women have a proven record to pay forward. They know how to utilize money, resources and ideas with wisdom and creativity to make better choices. Women are more likely than men to put their income back into their families and communities, driving illiteracy and mortality rates down and GDP up. KEY STRENGTHS

www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 17 EDUCATING GIRLS GROWS THE ECONOMY When 10% more girls go to school, a country’s GDP increases by 3%. When women are educated and can earn and control income, even more good results follow: infant mortality declines, child health and nutrition improve, agricultural productivity rises, population growth slows, economies expand and cycles of poverty are broken. KEY STRENGTHS

www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 18 WOMEN PAY BACK MONEY OWED Investments in women extend to the world around them. Women don't just pay back microloans, but also more likely than men to share the rewards of microfinance and contribut towards rising GDP. KEY STRENGTHS

www.dawoodglobal.orgwww.ladiesfund.com 19 WOMEN ARE FAIRER LEADERS Countries where women’s share of seats in political bodies is greater than 30% are more inclusive, egalitarian and democratic, according to USAID. Women are more likely to prevent conflict and achieve reconciliation after conflict has ended. KEY STRENGTHS
