Your PowerQuest Title A ? PowerQuest for ? Grade By: Insert Your Name and School

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Essential Question Question… As you construct your essential question you begin to think about identifying the task you will assign students (Big6 Step 1)

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Study Guide If you want students to download a study guide, place the link on this page. You can also link documents and media from any slides.

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Introduction The 'Introduction' section creates a context for the task and should be a short introductory paragraph, that introduces the PowerQuest activity. It should be written in a style that hooks and engages the learner. Keep your Task Definition in mind as you write your introduction. (Big6 Step 1)

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Task The 'Task' section focuses your learners on what they are going to do. What is their task? (Big6 Step 1)

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Process The 'Process' section should outline how the learners will go about accomplishing the task. It is very important to make sure that it includes clear guidance or steps on how they should organize their information. The steps or guidance could include a set of questions for them to answer, or specific areas they should concentrate or reflect on. Big6 components Step 1 – Task Definition (identify the task and what types information will be needed) Step 4 – Use of Information (engage the information, extract relevant information) Step 5 – Synthesis (organize and present)

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Resources The 'Resources' section should contain a list of websites, web pages or other objects which you have found that will help your learners accomplish the task. All resources should be pre-selected by you so that learners can focus their attention on the topic rather than spending time performing Internet searches. You may also consider a blended approach whereby not all of your resources are online, they might be magazines, books, etc. Use the arrow buttons to “page” through the resources. Location & Access-find the source, find information within the source. ( Big6 Step 3)

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Website #1 Directions for the website can be placed here. Website: place the web address here Relates to Big6 strategies Step 2 - Information Seeking Step 3 - Location & Access

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Website #4 Directions for the website can be placed here. Website: place the web address here Relates to Big6 strategies Step 2 - Information Seeking Step 3 - Location & Access

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Website #5 Directions for the website can be placed here. Website: place the web address here Relates to Big6 strategies Step 2 - Information Seeking Step 3 - Location & Access

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Evaluation It is very important that the learners know how their work will be assessed and whether there will be individual or group marks, grades, or levels. The 'Evaluation' section should describe the evaluation criteria needed to determine how well the learner (or group of learners) has done. Correlates with Evaluation component. (Big6 Step 6) Rubric

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Evaluation Rubric* Beginning 1 Developing 2 Accomplished 3 Exemplary 4 Score Objective 1 Description of the characteristics of a beginning level performance Description of the characteristics of a level of performance progressing toward mastery Description of the characteristics that demonstrate mastery of the objective Description of characteristics reflecting the highest level of performance Objective 2 Description of the characteristics of a beginning level performance Description of the characteristics of a level of performance progressing toward mastery Description of the characteristics that demonstrate mastery of the objective Description of characteristics reflecting the highest level of performance Objective 3 Description of the characteristics of a beginning level performance Description of the characteristics of a level of performance progressing toward mastery Description of the characteristics that demonstrate mastery of the objective Description of characteristics reflecting the highest level of performance Objective 4 Description of the characteristics of a beginning level performance Description of the characteristics of a level of performance progressing toward mastery Description of the characteristics that demonstrate mastery of the objective Description of characteristics reflecting the highest level of performance *For more information on how to create multimedia evaluative rubrics, go to the RubiStar website. http://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.phphttp://rubistar.4teachers.org/index.php

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Conclusion The 'PowerQuest Conclusion' section brings the PowerQuest to a close and should encourage learners to reflect on what they have achieved. Summarize what the learners will have accomplished or learned by completing this activity. You might think about including some thought provoking open questions to encourage them to extend their thinking. Synthesis component (organize and present) (Big6 Step 5)

TASK PROCESS RESOURCES EVALUATION CONCLUSION TEACHER INTRO Teacher The teacher’s page is an optional page which you can add to your PowerQuest. You can use this page to give other teachers or tutors information on how to deploy the PowerQuest with a group of learners.
