3 PBIS Background ➢ 2010-2011 Trained in PBIS Universal Level One ➢ 2011-2012 1st Year Implementing ➢ 2012-2013 Trained in PBIS Tier II ➢ 2013-2014 1st year implementing Tier II & SWIS ➢ Summary: 4th year with Universal Level One and 2nd year with Tier II.

5 CICO Overview Systems Team PBIS data subcommittee with the following member: School Counselors, Principal, & School Psychologist. Student Support Team Newly formed with the following members: School Counselors, Principal, School Psychologist, Curriculum Director, Grade Level Teacher, and any other speciality teacher (Ex. Reading Specialist, RTi Math Coordinator, Speech, Music, etc.)

6 Student CICO referral process 1.Data subcommittee a. SWIS data results i. 3 or more ODRs 2.SST referral a. Teacher request 3.Counseling referral a. Counselor, teacher or parent concerns.

7 PBIS Subcommittee-Data Team Meetings 1.Meeting times/length 1.SWIS data Big 5 report. 1.Precision statements determined. 1.Notes kept on excel spreadsheet. (See example.)

8 Steps to get student started. 1.Consult with his/her teacher in order to create Daily Progress Report according to student’s daily schedule. 2.Call parents and give them information on how CICO works. (Daily points earned, brief check-in/out with Greeter, and prizes earned.) 3.Decide on who will be the Greeter 4.Meet with student to discuss process. 5.Encourage positive results & get started right away! 6.SWIS/CICO data is entered weekly and monitored bi-weekly. (DPR copies are sent home based on individual requests.)

11 Student Support Team Meetings *A team that meets twice a month to discuss behavioral and academic concerns *Any staff member can bring a student to a SST meeting *Each session is 20 minutes long *School counselors get all the materials ready for each meeting *School counselors put together an Action Plan for each student

14 Student “buy-in” ●Keep it positive ●Match the student to the proper greeter think about personalities ●Be willing to be flexible if the student is not making their goal ●Even if the student does not meet their goal keep it positive and let them know that you believe in them

15 Staff buy-in ●Be patient this takes years ●Staff can not argue with data ●CICO manual for teachers, staff, and greeters ●Check in with greeters and teachers

16 Parent buy-in ●Keep parents informed for every step ●This should not come as a shock that their child is having behavioral problems at school ●Parents get a copy of the CICO sheet or a modified version of how the day went

19 CICO Forms ●CICO forms are put together based on schedule then problem areas ●Modified version of CICO form if students is not ready --smiley face chart, sticker chart, chart focused on one area throughout the whole day ●Make sure the student is feeling successful

21 Things to remember…. ●You need to meet on a regular basis to look over data. ●You need to meet regularly with the teacher to discuss the chart and whether or not changes need to be made. ●If you or the Greeter are absent there needs to be a backup plan. ●Do not over load your Greeters (School Counselors take 5-7 students while other Greeters will take 1-3). ●You will make mistakes learn from them
