WEEKLY INFORMATION ….. We provide Mr. Platt with important information specific to year 3 as to things happening in the following week at school. We will also continue to send home a ‘Things to tell you’ letter with further reminders about homework instructions and other matters.

Daily Homework Reading Please ensure your child spends at least 10-15 minutes each night with their reading book. We ask if you can sign a reading book record as a sign that you have listened/interacted with your child’s reading. We also ask if you can ask questions about the reading: Does your child understand what they have read? Each Friday we will also send home a Non-Fiction Library book. This is to widen their knowledge of non fiction. Please have these book returned at the latest by the following Thursday.

Homework X Tables Practice x tables (even if it isn't specifically the x tables set for the week ahead) Try and practise x tables using mental maths, computer games, variety of resources). By the end of year 3, the new Primary Curriculum is expecting children in year 3 to know all of their x tables up to 12. Spellings: Please practice your child’s spelling but to be learnt and transferred into a contextualised sentence rather than a list of individual words. For eg: because I want to wear my new shoes because I am going to a party. Each Friday we will send home a piece of homework. Your child does not need to bring back in the spelling sheet. Instead, we ask it stays at home for your child to look at each evening. Other homework on a separate sheet which is needed to come back into school please return by the Thursday of the following week.

PE Lessons Outdoor PE is on a Monday afternoon. The children need an outdoor kit now the weather is getting colder. Please provide your child with a pair of black tracksuit leggings. They can wear their yellow PE top and their black fleece. Trainers are needed for outdoor lessons. The children come home wearing their PE kits and it is a learning skill in packing their uniform!!! Morning PE is on a Thursday and this lesson is indoors.

Guidelines for wearing of School Uniform We expect…. All uniform to be labelled Children to arrive smart wearing their uniform with pride Ties are to be worn.
