3 Meet The Team

4 Uniform Uniform will be monitored daily by teachers and teaching assistants. All uniform must be labelled (including coats and PE kits.) Shirts must be tucked in with top button done up. Ties need to be done up to the top. No trainers! (Except for PE) No earrings Children are expected to arrive to school and leave school looking smart.

5 PE Kit Children need to have a PE kit, which includes: – A Regina Coeli T-shirt – A Regina Coeli Tracksuit – Regina Coeli shorts – Trainers – Spare socks PE kits should remain in school all week and can be taken home at the weekend to be washed.

6 Behaviour Children need to be punctual to school, they need to be in the classroom by 8:55 but can arrive from 8:45. Behaviour is expected to be good at all times and children need to follow the class rules. They need to be respectful to all adults and peers. Violence will not be tolerated. No mobile phones, electronic games or toys are allowed in school. Children will be rewarded for good behaviour! If there are any concerns about behaviour then the class teacher will speak directly to the parents. Parents may be contacted via text if a meeting needs to be arranged.

7 Attitudes to Learning Gold Silver Bonze These are displayed in the classroom and children are moved down or up, depending on their attitude.

8 Mathematics The school policy is to teach Maths 5 times a week. Lessons are taught based on the New Curriculum. Maths group change frequently according to the children’s needs. A variety of teaching strategies will be used. Mental maths strategies will be re-enforced on a daily basis (including the learning of times tables)

10 Reading Children can choose their own reading books and should change them when they finish the book Guided reading will take place daily Each child will also read to an adult at least once a week Children should be reading daily at home and this should be recorded in the diaries, which will be checked on a weekly basis

11 Writing Write on the line Start sentences with a capital letter Know when to use a full stop Read and write high-frequency words Form grammatically correct sentences Read their own writing back to others Work towards joining their handwriting

12 Writing Poetry (Colour Poems) Descriptive writing (using adjectives and similes) Reading stories with familiar settings Writing our own narratives based on these books Non-fiction writing Spelling, Punctuation, Grammar

14 Homework Maths homework daily in Maths homework books or through Primary My Maths Reading daily and recorded in diaries Writing once a week based on Literacy lessons or topic work Spellings weekly Learning times tables weekly Children may get handwriting tasks if needed

15 Reminders Record daily reading in diaries PE kits in on Weds and Thurs Maths h/w daily
