14 Valentine Grams Valentine Grams were a success!! We were sold out by Wednesday. Revenue - $337 Expense - $184 (carnations) Profit - $153 to be donated to The Shelf

24 LETTERING IN LEO CLUB HOW TO LETTER Attend 5 (out of 9) monthly meetings Morning or afternoon meeting counts as 1 monthly meeting 35 verified hours within school year by trimester: 11 hours due Tues, Nov 25 12 hours due Fri, March 6 12 hours due Fri, May 15 VERIFICATION FORMS ●Awards are based on hours ●Signatures required from supervisors ●Turn in forms to Mrs. Hansen’s office Tips: ●Write the date with year on records ●Use a Leo Club sheet or your own ●Keep a copy of your hours for your records! ●Volunteering outside of Leo Club DOES count towards your lettering hours :)

25 JEFFERSON AWARDS: STUDENTS IN ACTION To recognize students who perform service in our community ●Awarded monthly ●Students, parents, teachers can nominate ●Nomination forms located in front of volunteer office ●Deadlines available from Mrs. Hansen February Winner: Shauna Ling

26 Time Frame: May 1, 2014 - April 30, 2015 Silver Award: 50 hours of service Gold Award: 100 hours of service All service hours including summer hours will count! Deadline: May 15, 2015 There is not a specific application. Mrs. Hansen submits names for this award based on submitted hours LIONS YOUNG LEADER AWARD

27 LEO CLUB SCHOLARSHIPS Dayton Lions will provide two seniors with $500 scholarships. Get your application today! Deadline: April 8th @ 4pm Applications will be due at the April meeting. Winners will be announced at the May meeting.

28 JULIET EVANS NELSON SCHOLARSHIP ●$2,500 scholarship for HS juniors this school year ●Deadline: Friday, March 20, 2015 ●In addition to the scholarship, the student will be required to coordinate a United Way Caring Connection volunteer project ●More information on front table!

29 KOHL’S SCHOLARSHIP How does it work? ●Students must be 6-18 years old as of March 15, 2015 and not yet a high school graduate. ●Volunteer efforts must have occurred in the last year. ●Nominators must be 21 or older. Deadline to submit nominations: March 13, 2015 What can they win? ●Local winners: $50 Kohl’s Gift Card. ●Regional winners: $1,000 scholarship for higher education. ●National winners will each receive a $10,000 scholarship + Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit of the student’s choice Information on front table!

33 SERVICE SIGN-UPS ONLINE ●We are working on getting sign-ups online ●Goal is to have some opportunities online by the April meeting ●Is this an interest?

34 NO SHOWS We have had some trouble with Leo Club members who sign up for events and then don’t show up. This puts the agency in a real bind when they really need your help. If you can’t attend an event you sign up for: 1.Cross your name off the list in the resource area 2.If within a day or so, contact the agency you were going to volunteer with to let them know you are not coming. 3.After 2 no shows with no notification - potential of inability to letter Is there something we can do to help? ●different reminders? text? email? ●calendar view ●Write down suggestions and leave on front table at the end of the meeting.

35 LEGO BLOCKS NEEDED Mrs. Evan’s, CPHS Media Specialist, is looking for donations of lego’s to help with a Media Center display/activity. If you have any legoS to donate, please see Mrs. Evans in the Media Center.

36 ARTS AND ACADEMIC EXPO JUDGES NEEDED Judge student projects for Oxbow Creek Elementary’s 15th Arts and Academic Expo. Categories include: Handwriting, Creative Writing, Historical Project, Scrapbooking, Science Project, Drawing, Construction, Photography, and Games by Kids Wednesday, March 4 5:30-8:30 pm Oxbow Creek Elementary A short training will be provided when you arrive at 5:30 pm.
