HS115 Week Two Seminar Sarah MacNeil, Instructor Formatting

Agenda Review of Unit One Grading Unit Two Topics Questions about Unit Two Assignments Introduction to Unit Three, if time permits Questions

Where did you find the documents? At the beginning of each unit, the necessary data files are listed on the left side of the first page. (Example: Unit C- page 51/blue box) Then, in each individual exercise, it will tell you if you need to access a data file. You can find the files in Doc Sharing. Refer to the syllabus (or Announcement posted last week), so that you will know what is being graded each week.

Quick Discussion… How hard was it to find the assignment and understand what was assigned? Please tell the class how you discovered the correct way to complete your work? Please type 4 complete sentences.

Unit One Assignments: Units A and B Assignments were worth the following points: ◦Staff Memo-10 points ◦Zimmerman Fax-10 points ◦PR Lecture Public-20 points

I will ask…. Please be sure to hold your questions to the Q & A session at the end of the seminar. We have a lot to cover. If you are continually asking questions, the rest of the class can not get the information needed to complete week 2 and “perhaps” week 3 work complete. Please be sure to NOT voice class concerns as this will only cause negativity. No side-bar conversations, please. If you are unable to do so, please complete option 2. ;-)

A Couple of Reminders: All work is due on Tuesdays at 11:59 PM EST. Anything submitted after this time (even if it is 12:00 PM EST) it is considered late and will not assess points. (please refer to syllabus) Always refer to the class for all required documents to upload for a grade. All work submitted by the due date, will be graded. After this point, you will not be allowed to re-submit work for a higher grade. This is not fair for the class or student. (No half submissions)

Seminar: Seminar is held every week at the same time. If you can not attend, please complete the Option 2 assignment. Or you may attend another seminar. Active participation is required. Simply, typing one word answers or one letter will not count. I complete a thorough review of the transcript to look for consistencies. Anything less, your grade will be affected.

Discussion: Discussions are to be completed every other week. To receive the highest possible points, you must follow the syllabus as written. ◦Adhere to the minimum word count for your initial post (150 words), and your responses to students (75 words). ◦Remember that all initial posts are due NO LATER than Saturdays at 11:59 PM EST. At least 2 other responses are due on Tuesdays at 11:59 PM EST. ◦All responses have to be made on three separate days.  Points are being lost in some cases.

Late Work As a reminder: Late work will not be accepted except for extenuating circumstances. This is described in the syllabus. Please note: it is instructor’s discretion to grant late submissions with valid documentation. As reminder: This is a Kaplan Policy and will be strictly enforced. Computer/software issues are not extenuating.

Unit One Assignments: To receive the highest possible points, it would be beneficial for you to: Review all steps in the document before you turn it in. Follow the reading step-by-step. Ensure you name the file with the correct name. Spell and grammar check before you turn it in.

Unit One Grading If you questions about your grade, please email me after seminar. Due to the fact that your grades are personal. Seminar is not the time to discuss it, as it is a personal matter.
