Training & Events Personal Development Plan Career & Succession Planning The Framework for PD Requires Competence Framework Identifies from Planning goals the Development activities required to feed into PDP Driven by Corporate / Directorate / Department plans. In case development activities are required to achieve Business / Behavioural / HSE objectives they could form input to the PDP Personal Development Cycle (Where does competence assessment fit in)

5 Creating a Competence Assessment (Employee action) Step 1 Click to select My Competence Step 2 Click to select Create Competence Assessment ESS is accessed by clicking the link on the PDO Home Page Step 3 Enter log in details Save the Password and click OK

6 Shows the Validity period of the Competence Assessment defaults to the current review period but can be overwritten if incorrect. Click here if you want to see more employee details and a new box will open which shows them Automatically shows the Document Status. The header will automatically show the Supervisor and Employee’s names. If the Supervisor’s name is not correct proceed as follows: 1.Overwrite the supervisor’s with the company no of the correct supervisor (without the ‘MU”). 2.Click Transfer Competence Assessment Document Header (1) Supervisor / Additional Employee data

7 1. Click to see details of default position and assessor details For CBD (Competence based development) you need not change the position since a JCP would have been assigned to the position. However for CBP (Competence based Progression) you need first click the box before Position and then click ‘delete’ Now type in the key words of the JCP you are looking for to do a CBP and click Transfer Select the correct JCP from the search result and click Transfer Competence Assessment Document Header (2) Selecting the Job Competency Profile (JCP)

8 Step 2 To add an assessor proceed as follows: Step 2a Enter their company number if you know it or their last name here and click transfer. Step 2b Select the required name from the list provided. Step 2c Click Transfer. To either add assessors Proceed as follows: Step 1 Open Position and Assessors area by clicking here. Step 2d Select the person’s role from the drop down list. 9 Competence Assessment Document Header (4) Final check and Starting Assessment Before you start the competence assessment please check the following 1.Supervisor data is correct 2.Correct JCP is selected 3.Assessors are selected 4.Roles are selected To start assessment click here

10 Step 2 Use the note area under the Employee Evidence /Remarks column to provide evidence of your competence level assessment. Evidence should be related to actual examples and real achievements Step 1 You will be presented with the requirements profile for either your current job/position or one you have selected. Read the description of each requirement and click the radio button which you believe best describes your level of competence related to that requirement. Note if this is your baseline assessment all requirements will show as “No Value” Competence Assessment Important !!!!! Keep saving your work regularly as you proceed with the assessment to avoid the time out

11 Step 3 You will now be presented with the PDO competence catalogue which you can search for the competence you want. Enter the search argument here using wild cards if you wish. Step 1 At the end of the assessment document you have the opportunity to add additional qualifications to your profile which are not requirements of this position/job but are relevant to PDO. To add additional qualifications click the create icon next to the Free Profiling line Step 4 To initiate the search click the filter icon Step 2 To sort entries in catalogue click up or down arrows Step 5 to select/deslect competencies to add to your profile click the box to the left of the relevant line(s) Step 5 to transfer the competencies selected to your profile click transfer Step 6 to cancel the action click Back Competence Assessment Free Profiling

12 Finalising your Assessment Step 1 To save your entries if you wish to return to work on them later click here and then when you wish to return use the instructions for amending your Competence Appraisal Step 2 Once you are happy with your assessment click here and a message will be sent to your manager’s in box that he/she needs to review and comment on them. Note once you click on this you will not be able to access your assessment to change it

14 Optional Features - Exiting the Session To exit the session without saving click here. Note this will mean you will lose any work you have done during the session

15 Optional Features – Printing your Appraisal ( The print will also give the competency requirements for the JCP) To print your Appraisal Click here and a File Download dialogue box will appear Either Click here to open the document Or Click here if you want to save it You will then be able to print the document as normal

16 Optional Features – Attaching Documents Note this feature is only to be used for small files which are critical to the contract. To attach a document to your Performance Contract 1.Click here and a File Attachment dialogue box will appear 2.Click here to get browser 3.Click here to Browse for the file you want to attach 4.Double Click to select the file you want 5.Click Add Document 6.Wait for the file name to disappear from the browser window and Click Close

17 Optional Features – Attaching Documents Note this feature is only to be used for small files which are critical to the contract. To attach a document to your Performance Contract 7.Click Refresh to see the attached file 8.Click Close to return to Appraisal document 9.Click Save to Refresh the attachment count

18 Optional Features – Deleting Attached Documents To delete an attached document from your Competence Appraisal 1.Click here to select each file you want to delete 2.Click here to delete Note these files are actual attachments not Hyperlinks

19 Optional Features – Reviewing the action log To review the action log which shows who has accessed your record, why and when they did so click here Click here to close it Click here to refresh if you can’t see a transaction you were expecting

23 Selecting your Assessment for Editing This screen will display your current Competence Assessment documents Step 4 Double click here to access the Competence Assessment you wish to amend Progress as for Create Competence Assessment Step 5 onwards
