Between 2000 and 2004 fairly stable between 470 and 500 ‘05 we increased our targets and grew the numbers to the 600 range 08, we increased again. 09, increased targets again to accommodate for the decrease in domestic non-resident, grew the population to slightly more than 1000 Increased our targets again, based on previous year matriculation rates, but the matrics increased by 25% more than anticipated. So essentially about 400 more students committed to Purdue than were expected to based on historical reference.

4 College of Science (Undergraduates)
Between 2000 and 2004 fairly stable between 470 and 500 ‘05 we increased our targets and grew the numbers to the 600 range 08, we increased again. 09, increased targets again to accommodate for the decrease in domestic non-resident, grew the population to slightly more than 1000 Increased our targets again, based on previous year matriculation rates, but the matrics increased by 25% more than anticipated. So essentially about 400 more students committed to Purdue than were expected to based on historical reference.

5 So, What Happened? We work closely with the Office of Enrollment Management to set target rates for matriculation. In 2009, US students began staying “home” for college, so our domestic non-resident applications were down. In order to bridge the gap, we increased our targets for international admits. At the same time, our international applicants starting increasing at an amazing rate.

6 And the Results… We increased our target admit rate based on historical matriculation rates. But this year, 30% more students committed to Purdue than the historic rates indicated.
