3 Eustress – Moderate psychological stress that is beneficial Compassion Satisfaction - A sense of satisfaction with the work; development of personal strengths as a result. Compassion Stress - Stress resulting from wanting to help a suffering or traumatized person Burn Out - Associated with feelings of hopelessness and difficulties in dealing with work & doing job effectively Compassion Fatigue - A state of exhaustion and dysfunction from prolonged exposure to compassion stress. (Figley, 1993) “The weariness that comes from caring.” (Johnson, 1997)
