2 T HE MOST IMPORTANT - K ARLŠTEJN Is a large Gothic castle founded 1348 AD by Charles IV The castle served as a place for safekeeping the Imperial Regalia, Bohemian coronation jewels

3 THE MOST BEAUTIFUL - H LUBOKÁ The chateaux was built by Schwarzenbergs (1841-71) It was inspire by Windsor Castle The chateau stands out thanks to its richly decorated halls, which boast carved ceilings and wall paneling and valuable historical fixtures and fittings

4 T ROSKY It is a symbol of the Bohemian Paradise It was built in14th century The higher tower is called Panna (Virgin) The lower one is called Baba (an old)

5 K OST It is in the Bohemian Paradise It was reconstructed in the Renaissance style(14th century) Inside is the exposition of Late Gothic sculptures and paintings.

6 S YCHROV It is unique example of Neo-Gothic castle from second half of 19th century. The castle surrounds large park, designed in the English style. The castle has of around 250 portraits of the Rohans, related families, and French kings. It is the largest collection of French portrait paintings in Central Europe.

7 ČESKÝ KRUMLOV The castle is built on the rocky projection above the town of Český Krumlov. The manor and its premises belong among the largest in Europe. In The castle is the bear moat. He was part of the original Gothic fortifications and had a major defense function It makes a dominant feature of the town. The castle was founded in the first half of the 13th century by the noblemen of Krumlov. After the owners had died out, the castle was inherited by the Rožmberk Dynasty and they occupied it until the beginning of the 17th century

8 Blatná chateaux The first mention is from 1235. The chateau fourished in the 15th century when possessed by the family of Lev of Rožmitál. The building acquired its current romantic appearance in the mid-1800s.. Among the attractions are its fresco ceiling and wall paintings, picture gallery and collection of hunting trophies. There is an adjacent game preserve, full of ancient trees, arranged in style of an English park in the last century

9 L EDNICE CASTLE Castle Park's appearance, which got in the early 19th century. Includes a pond with fifteen islands and vegetation from America. In the park there are many romantic buildings of the late eighteenth and nineteenth centuries: J. Hardtmuth built minaret in the years 1797 - 1802, the obelisk from 1798, a hunting lodge, Castle Pond, Temple of Apollo, St. Hubert and Janohrad. Lednice castle was build-up, at that time, very modern English (so called Winsdor) Gothic. We can admire amazing staircase, carved from one piece of wood, or original Chinese wallpapers decorated with motives of flowers, birds and Chinese people, that we can find on walls of Chinese cabinet.

10 Č ERVENÁ L HOTA It stands at the middle of a lake on a rocky island. Its name Červená Lhota meaning "red village" can be explained by the colour of the château's bright-red roof tiles. On the castle was recorded a few film and television fairy tales

11 FRÝDLA NT The Castle was built in the 13th century. In the years 1622-1634 it belonged to Albrecht of Wallenstein, one of the most significant personalities of the Thirty Years War. Particularly attractive is the tower, nearly 50 meters high, which used to serve as an orientation point or a lighthouse. The Renaissance Chateau dates back to the 17th century. The Chateau opened its collections of weapons, furniture, paintings and books from the 16th and 17th centuries to the public already in 1801. There are also unique historical collections of pipes and of toys. The Chateau Gallery displays works of the Czech Baroque masters.

12 KONOPIŠTĚ The predecessor of the todays castle, the tower Konopiště, was founded in the end of the 13th century. Until 1327 it was owned by the family of Šternberkové who have also imprisoned the king Václav IV. in the castle. In the 18th century the castle was modified a lot and so the tower changed into a comfortable castle. Since 1918 the castle is a property of the state.

13 Přimda castle It is the most oldest castle in the Czech Republic(It was built in the first half of the 13th century ) In 1584–1590 it underwent Renaissance-style modifications
