2 Calculator Policy for Smarter Mathematics Assessments Grades 3–5 1 http://www.smarterbalanced.org/wordpress/wp- content/uploads/2014/03/Calculator-Availability-by-Grade-Level.pdf For students taking the online Smarter Mathematics Assessment, no external calculators are permitted unless explicitly stated in the Smarter Balanced Usability, Accessibility, and Accommodations Guidelines and the Delaware Accessibility Guidelines document. Grades 3–5 Calculator Availability – The Smarter Mathematics Assessments for grades 3–5 do not allow for calculator usage.

3 Calculator Policy for Smarter Mathematics Assessments Grades 6–8  Divided into 2 sections—calculator available and calculator not available  Grade 6 – allows an embedded, online, 4-function calculator during calculator available section  Grades 7–8 – allows an embedded, online, scientific calculator during the calculator available section 2

4 Calculator Policy for Smarter Mathematics Assessment – Grade 11  Divided into 2 sections—calculator available and calculator not available  High school assessment allows an embedded, online calculator with scientific, regression, and graphing capabilities in the calculator available section 3
