1 The History 1929 to 2014

2 Lilliput Sea Scouts formed in 1929 with a small group of friends who met regularly under a lamp-post on the brow of Lilliput Hill. A resident in the area took pity on them and allowed the group to use the local Mission Hall. The group expanded and became the 1 st Lilliput Scout Troop. Gradually, the group turned to the sea and by 1936 the 1 st Lilliput Sea Scouts were in existence. During the war the group performed coastguard duties at Shell Bay. The boathouse was in Pearce Road, Parkstone and sailing was allowed on Poole Park lake.

5 The original four members who used to meet under the lamp post Tony Greeny, Phil Dutfield, Ted Brackstone and Les Heyward. At the end of the war the group paid £100 to the Harbour Commissioners for an area of mud flats in Parkstone Bay. After some reclamation work a pier was built and a fleet of boats appeared with small boat-houses. By the end of the 1950s Lilliput Mission Hall and the boathouses had become too small and in 1962 the wooden hall and boathouse was built. The wooden hall was donated to the Group and was a 1st World War Wrens sleeping accommodation.
