2 Connecticut Department of Correction Mission Statement. The Department of Correction shall protect the public, protect staff, and provide safe, secure, and humane supervision of offenders with opportunities that support successful community reintegration.

Manson Youth Institution shall protect the public, protect staff and provide safe, secure and humane supervision of offenders with opportunities that support successful community reintegration through effective multi-disciplinary age-appropriate opportunities for inmates to acquire the necessary life skills, education and values essential to be responsible and productive citizens. The York Correctional Institute shall protect the public, protect the staff and provide a safe, secure and humane supervision of women offenders with opportunities that support successful community reintegration.
