2 Fazu Alieva was born on December 5, 1932 in a mountainous village of Ghinichoutl, in Khounzakh region in the family of a serviceman. In 1950 she left Aranin secondary school. 3 In 1954 she entered the Dagestan women Teachers’ training Institute. But in 1955 she left the institute and became a student of Moscow Literature institute named after M. Gorky. In 1962 after graduating from the institute got the job as an editor of a monthly magazine “ Woman of Dagestan”. “ Woman of Dagestan”.

4 In 1971 she was appointed an editor- in-chief of the magazine “Woman of Dagestan”. She has remained the editor-in-chief of this magazine for thirty five years already.

7 One of her volumes of poetry was entitled “I hand Out a Rainbow”. This is symbolic: the poetess generously bestows on people the warmth and wealth of her own heart. She writes verses because she is convinced they are necessary “for all people as dreams of the stars, as the sun’s rays, as the moon’s light, the splash of the waves, as fresh air”.

8 She is well known in Dagestan as playwright too. In recent years she has shown herself to be a talented writer of prose. Her novel “ The Wind will Not Carry Away A Clod of Earth” is the first autobiographical novel in the history of Dagestan literature.

9 This work enriched Dagestan prose with the theme of the inseparableness of literary talent from the life and destiny of the people. Altogether, she has written more than 20 volumes of poetry and 10 novels, seven of which have been published in 30 languages.

11 Fazu Alieva is known not only as a poetess and novelist, but also a tireless publicist and public figure: in different periods of time she was Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Soviet of Dagestan, Chairman of the Dagestan branch of the Soviet Peace Committee, member of the World Peace Council and Chairman of the Dagestan Peace Fund.
