3 Song Qingling was born into a rich family which played an important role in Chinese politics in the first half of 20 th century. As the widow of Sun Yatsen, she became an important member of the elite of P.R.C. Though she was the Vice-chairperson of the People’s Republic, her influence in political matters was limited. Instead, she devoted herself to the welfare activities for women and children.

8 Pearl S. Buck was born in West Virginia, but she spent most of the first forty years of her life in China. She lived in China, studied Chinese and found jobs in Nanjing University with her husband. In 1920s, She began to publish stories and essays in magazines. Her first novel, East Wind, West Wind was published in 1930. She won the Noble Prize in literature, the first American woman to do so.By the time of her death in 1973, Pearl had published over 70 books.

10 Mother Teresa was born on August 27,1910. When she was 12 years old, she determined to have avocation to help the poor and India was her destination. At the age of 18, she went to India, where she took her initial vows as a nun. In India, Mother Teresa devoted herself to caring for those nobody was prepared to look after, she received the Noble Prize in 1979. She died on September 5, 1997.
