DVD Evangelism Why Are People Not Involved? Lack of self-confidence Unrecognised potential Have never been asked No training Limited understanding of role No motivation

DVD Evangelism No Training ‘Many would be willing to work if they were taught how to begin.’ Christian Service, p. 59

DVD Evangelism Motivating to Become Involved Pastor – to continually cast the church’s vision for mission before the church members Make DVD Ministry a matter of intentional prayer Work with a nucleus of church members who will participate in DVD Ministry rather than expecting every church member to be involved. Train and equip on the use of the BEYOND SERIES

DVD Evangelism Start –Up Sequence There are at least four settings in which the BEYOND SERIES can be used: HOME GROUP SEMINAR SETTING INDIVIDUAL DOOR TO DOOR

DVD Evangelism HOME GROUP 1.Help the group leader confirm a starting date and time. Determine how many times a week the series will be screened. 2.At the same time, have specifically invited church members begin to pray for the success of the home group.

DVD Evangelism HOME GROUP 3. What method/s of invitation will be used? Personal invitation is the best approach. 4. Encourage the group leader to make sure that their home is tidy and clean, refreshments on hand and possible distractions are eliminated.

DVD Evangelism HOME GROUP 6. Keep the screening and discussion time to about an hour. 7. At the conclusion, make mention of the next appointment and time.

DVD Evangelism DOOR TO DOOR Brochure available from your local Conference

DVD Evangelism DOOR TO DOOR Preparation Access the DVDs Stay in touch with your Sabbath School or Personal Ministries leader for more information. Get additional information from the Australian Union Conference website. Your Pastor can arrange a training session to help you get started. Do it as a Sabbath School class project. See Conference Personal Ministries/Sabbath School Ministries for additional resources.

DVD Evangelism DOOR TO DOOR Prayer Develop a prayer list and pray regularly for the people on your list. Pray for opportunities and courage to share the DVDs. Ask for God’s guidance to be effective in communicating His love as you share the DVDs.

DVD Evangelism DOOR TO DOOR Sharing DVDs are a resource prepared for person-to-person witnessing. They are not designed for letter boxing. Christian friendship creates an atmosphere where confidence and trust can grow. Be sure to preview the DVD. Take opportunities to share the DVD. Keep it casual, friendly and natural. Be prepared to follow up – ask if they enjoyed the DVD and if the response is positive, offer the next DVD. If the response is negative, do not argue. It’s no big deal if they say no. There will be other opportunities for personal witnessing.

DVD Evangelism DOOR TO DOOR Questions Experience has shown that people often have questions after watching the DVDs. Review the content of the DVD you are retrieving as you will be better prepared to respond to any questions. If you can’t answer a question, tell them:  You will do some research and will share the results when you visit next.  There are other DVDs on the topic.  There is reading material available.

DVD Evangelism DOOR TO DOOR Follow Up Every visit provides an opportunity to ‘grow the friendship’ and to ‘melt the ice’ a little more each time. Don’t be in a hurry, as the delivery of DVDs provides opportunities to build a relationship. As the relationship develops, conversation will naturally turn to topical issues and spiritual matters. If they have not viewed the DVD you should not be too concerned. The less pressure you exert on a person to complete viewing the DVD, the greater the chances are that you will keep the interest.

DVD Evangelism DOOR TO DOOR Remember God loves all people. He will spare no effort to connect with them. He will lead you to those who are seeking for something better.

DVD Evangelism General Comments Be a friend to the person watching the series Do not use Adventist ‘in-house’ terminology Use the Beyond Study Guides with the DVD’s Keep each session short – be informal, be yourself, be relaxed. Make sure you have seen the DVD and can honestly acknowledge it’s value to you.
