1 Welcome! - Pick up your English binder. Turn in “Name” homework. Take out a sheet of paper and put a heading on it. Title – Appositives – Pattern 6 Write these standards at the top – L71a, L71c, L72, L73a Skip a line. After reading the following two sentences, combine them into one sentence using an appositive. The Chicago Bears lost to the New England Patriots. The Chicago Bears is an NFC team.

3 Standards Addressed in This Lesson L71a – I can explain the function of phrases and clauses in general and their function in specific sentences. L71c – I can place phrases and clauses within a sentence… L72 – I can use correct capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing. L73a – I can use specific nouns and verbs without being wordy.

4 Appositive -a noun phrase identifying a person, place, or thing named in a sentence -follows the noun it describes -needs a comma (at the end of a sentence) or commas (in the middle of a sentence)
