2 Introduction Glasgow is the largest town of Scotland although, it isn’t the capital and third most populous in the United Kingdom with 1.7 Mio peoples. It is situated on the River Clyde Her inhabitants call her « dear green place ». Indeed the vegetation is present in in each street of the city.

3 History Founded by a Christian missionary (St Mungo), Glasgow became a ma jor religious centre. Mungo's original church was destroyed by the wars which swept the country in the years after his death. Today's Cathedral dates from the 12th Century and has been added to in the years which followed. In 1451 Glasgow became a University City. By the 18th century many merchants had acquired great wealth by importing sugar, rum and tobacco. With the coming of the Industrial Revolution, aided by technological advances designed by Clydeside inventors such as James Watt, Heavy Industry in the shape of Railway Locomotives and Shipbuilding flourished. Locomotives were exported throughout the world. "Clyde-Built" became synonymous with quality and reliability.

4 Haggis Haggis is a traditional Scottish dish. There are many recipes, most of which have in common the following ingredients: sheep's 'pluck' (heart, liver and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and traditionally boiled in the animal's stomach for approximately three hours.

5 Football In Glasgow, there are 2 big football club : -Glasgow Celtic who won 41 scottish championship. -Glasgow Rangers who won 51 tittles. Of course those teams are eternal rivals and the best of the league. Together they won 92 tittles on the 117 (the scottish Football league was founded in 1890)
