3 Mission & Purpose of the PTA To support and speak on behalf of children and youth in the schools, in the community, and before governmental bodies and other organizations that make decisions affecting children; To assist parents in developing the skills they need to raise and protect their children; To encourage parent and public involvement in the public schools of this nation. To promote the welfare of children and youth in home, school, community, and place of worship. To raise the standards of home life. To secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth. To bring into closer relation the home and school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the education of children and youth. To develop between educators and the general public such united efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education. 3 James F. 4 How Can You Help? Join the PTA and attend our meetings! Volunteer your time to assist in organizing and running these events. Participate in fundraising programs such as Spring Carnival, Book Fair, Silver Diner Night, COACH Bingo, etc. Sign-up for the PTA e-mail loop and read the online updates at http://cooper.cherryhill.k12.nj.us/ to see what is happening. 4 James F. 7 PTA Goals for 2012-2013 PTA Goals for 2012-2013 - Achieved Peaceful Playgrounds  Nancy Hammill is the Peaceful Playground Coordinator. A committee will paint the playground and an expert will be brought in to teach us the best possible way to utilize it.  Design permanent playground activities that help make activity time more positive and productive. Help combat childhood obesity and bullying. 7 James F. Cooper Elementary School  For our money, we received new game equipment, material to paint the playground with decorative patterns and instructions on how to implement the program.  Students have a variety of exercise opportunities and learn how to resolve conflicts peacefully.  Give students a variety of game options, which stimulate imaginations and keep them active. Children learn to follow rules and to respect one another.

8 Laptops and Laptop Cart 8 James F. Cooper Elementary School  The PTA purchased 10 laptops last school year and we’re committed to buying additional laptops in future school years. It is our goal to one day have a laptop in each classroom.  The PTA purchased a Laptop Cart which provides a safe and easy way to transport and store numerous laptops for a school. 9 Cameras for the Classrooms 9 James F. Cooper Elementary School  The PTA purchased 8 digital cameras for the school use.  One for each grade, LLD, PTA & office use.  Cameras can be used to take pictures in the classroom for educational use, as well as for submissions to the school yearbook.. PTA Goals for 2012-2013 PTA Goals for 2012-2013 - Achieved iPads for the Classrooms  The PTA purchased 10 iPads & Erica Price purchased the cases.

10 Technology for the Classrooms 10 James F. Cooper Elementary School  The PTA would like to purchase additional technology, (e.g. iPads, laptops or Smart Boards) for the teachers use, as well as iTunes cards to purchase additional applications for the iPads.. PTA Goals for 2013-2014
