2 PATHWAYS MISSION The mission of the Pathways Academy is to provide all students with the individual attention and support they need in order to graduate from high school and fulfill their postsecondary goals. g To carry out our mission we sought to give students more control over pace, place, and content by leveraging technology to create more personalized learning experiences.

5 PATHWAYS ACADEMY Full time Pathways 100 students Juniors/Seniors identified as over-age and under- credited Deficient 10+ credits 22 students identified as LTAs Part-time Pathways with Facilitator 153 students enrolled in our Pathways PM School Program 6 th Period Elective Course re-takes Credit accumulation 91 Students attend 2 nd, 4 th or 5 th period ONLINE CLASS Health Spanish 6 th Period Elective 26 BOSS Enrollments Multi-course (PM SCHOOL)

6 OUR BLENDED LEARNING MODELS Self Paced Learning Students choose to take one or more courses entirely online (home and brick & Mortar) Work with guidance counselors to identify courses Checks in with Teacher-of- Record once a week Flex Models Content and instruction is delivered primarily online with the Teacher- of-Record or facilitator on site to provide support as needed Classroom teacher supplements instruction with online activites Fully Online Face-to-Face

7 FLEX MODEL 1 Classes held in Mac Lab or classroom with a laptop cart Facilitated by a trained teacher Provides support as needed Conducts student/parent outreach Students work independently on online courses and emails or seeks out Teacher-of-Record for assistance with content

13 BIGGEST ACCOMPLISHMENT Approx. 60 (and more to come!) students WILL graduate in June after having taking a class on iLearn

14 CHALLENGES Teacher buy-in Many opportunities for professional development but few took advantage Few understand blended learning, most believe that it is only online learning Lack of strong classroom facilitators Weak student orientation Improve through use of video and orientation study guide Experimented but not satisfied with blending learning in Math classes Students’ skills are too weak and require more teacher attention than before

15 NEXT STEPS Begin to expand the iLearn program school-wide Achieve3000 Train teachers on using NBC Learn, Discovery, Gale, and D2L Implement a Rotation Model in math classes using MathXL as a supplement iLearn Summer School for the Graphics Campus: HSGCA, BOSS, UAG Create Guidance/Student Goal Setter
