3 Johannes Chrysostomus Wolfgangus Theophillus Amadeus Gottlieb Sigismundus Mozart - Theophillus, Amadeus, Gottlieb, and Sigismundus all mean “Beloved of God”

4 Handel and Haydn were alive the same time as Mozart Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Thomas Jefferson were also alive. Joseph Haydn

5 Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was taught by his father at a young age. Mozart started playing the piano at the age of 3 Could learn a piece of music in as little as half an hour at 4 Wrote his first composition at 5

6 Mozart’s father, Leopold Mozart, took him and his sister, Maria, on tours. Their first tour was in 1762 when Mozart was 6. Between the ages 7-15, young Mozart spent half of his life on tour in Europe.

7 Inspiration Mozart was influenced by Johann Christian Bach, Johann Sebastian Bach’s youngest son. Johann Christian Bach Mozart met Johann while he was on a tour. He was close friends with Franz Joseph Haydn, and he was a huge influence on Mozart.

9 Tourette’s Syndrome? Some say Mozart’s strange behavior is caused by Tourette’s Syndrome. -Causes random outburst, mood swings, uncontrollable noises

10 Mozart wrote in all genres -serenades, divertimenti, and dances He mainly wrote pieces to please specific people

14 Performed at Schonbrun Palace. After he was done, he jumped in to Archduchess Maria Antonia’s lap and asked her to marry him. -Future Marie Antoinette

15 Mozart’s Family Amadeus Mozart was married to Constanze Weber in August, 1782 They had 6 kids, but only Karl Thomas (2 nd child) and Franz Xaver Wolfgang (6 th child) survived.

16 Kept a starling which helped him come up with parts of his compositions. When it died, Mozart gave it a funeral that included prayers and hymns.

17 Spoke 15 different languages -German, Italian, Spanish, French, and English

18 Mozart died on December 5, 1791 in Vienna, Austria at the age of 35. Fever, kidney failure, or strep throat may have been the cause of death, but no one knows for sure. His body is buried in Zentralfriedhof, Vienna, Austria.
