2 Nutritional Needs During Pregnancy When pregnant, you have a higher need for some vitamins and minerals Choose foods that have the vitamins and minerals you need & choose them often Make choices that are low in “extras” Vitamin and mineral supplements cannot replace a healthy diet. Their in addition to eating a healthy diet

3 Nutritional Needs During Pregnancy Weight gain should be gradual over the 9 months, with a total of 24-30 pounds. Include 30 minutes or more of physical activity Avoid activities with a high risk of falling or injury Physical activity can be done in short periods of 10 minutes
