3 Studying Geography Political maps show the names and borders of countries.

4 Studying Geography Special purpose maps show patterns such as climate, natural resources, or population.

5 Studying Geography Hemispheres are a half-sphere used to divide the globe into four halves. The four halves that the hemisphere is broken into are Northern, Southern, Eastern, and Western.

6 Studying Geography Latitude measures distances north or south of the Equator. Longitude measures distances east or west of the Prime Meridian.

8 Studying Geography A scale is a measuring line that tells you the distances represented on the map. Symbols on a map are signs and pictures.

9 Studying Geography Migration is the movement of people from one place to settle in another place.

10 Studying Geography Culture is a set of beliefs, behaviors, and traits shared by the members of a group.

11 Studying Geography A map has a symbol called a compass rose that tells you the position of the cardinal directions: East West North South
