2  Obviously stressful situations  High blood pressure- damages blood vessel in eye; the higher and longer your blood pressure is the worse the damage will be in your eye vision; Possible to cause permanent damage in eyes bc there is either not enough blood supply to the eye or the blood is trapped in the eye bc the veins are blocked ex) bloody eyes, blood shot  Low blood pressure- will also causes it bc not enough blood into the eyes; part of the reason there are blurred vision; ex) when you faint Causes

3  Distorted vision  Visual disturbance/ visual loss  Pupils dilate  Blurry vision/ Double vision  Watery eyes  Light sensitivity  ITS POSSIBLE TO GO BLIND TEMPORARILY Signs & Symptoms

4  Likely to happen 3 times more in women than men  Streff; again more common in girls; ages 8-12  Related Eye diseases- statistics  1 in 10 people get migraines General Statistics

5  HOW IT HAPPENS  Two things happen to cause disturbance in eye vision;  When pupils dilate; it lets in more light which will then causes eye pain  Fight or flight response is activates pupils will dilate; depending on how bad it vision could be worse  Total of 6 muscles around the eyeball  3 muscles are used to move the eyeball in different directions  The other 3 are used for the focus and the are involved with the lens in the eye  Depending on where we look, how we feel, how we think the eye may shorten or on the other hand it may actually stretch  Ex) like a bellows camera; bc it has a focus and you can change the length  Show picture of camera  To elongate or stretch the eye, the muscles circle the eye like a belt and the muscles begin to tighten  In other words, squeezing the eyeball  This may happen when there is fear present, when someone feels threatened OR in any other situation of STRESS  * When it happens, it only makes it worse bc most people panic and thinking to much about it. 6  Any ages are able to get this  In ex) Streff syndrome- children& adolescents may occur bc of divorce, neglect, low self esteem ; eyes can not focus; eye teaming issues  Post traumatic stress disorder- blurred vision and achey eyes; more common in adults  Ex of older women; found husband cheating; her right eye lost vision  Myokmia- eye twitch, occurs in spams; lasts up to several hours at a time  Migranes ( any age) Who Gets It

7  High blood pressure- when blood pressure goes up, your internal eye does the same  Glaucoma- a condition from high blood pressure that damages the optic nerve and can potentialling cause permanent eye damage and vision loss/ blindness  Eye Strain  Can occur when staring at a screen to long or not getting enough sleep; headaches will accompany this  Eye Twitch  Stress causes an eye twitch How It Develops
